I watched Chris Pratt’s ‘The Tomorrow War’ and it is a very long, dull movie!
(Disclaimer: All Spoilers Given)
Firstly, it has the same old American script of alien invasion and time travel. I am so fucking tired of this. Like in every other fucking movie the aliens come to earth (only the USA) and wipe out humans from the face of the earth. Then, comes a group of heroes who discovers a way of defeating these aliens, and hence humanity is saved!
In Tomorrow War they just twisted this concept a little bit- now the aliens are in the future and the humans are losing the war. So, a group of future people travel back in time and recruit people from 30 years back to fight their war! I am not a science guy but this does break some time travel rules, I guess.
Plus, why is this movie so long? 2 h 20 minutes? Seriously? Chriss Pratt goes into the future, loses the war but brings this special serum, then he comes back and then the ‘group of heroes’ defeats the alien ‘Whitespikes’ in the present time. Yes, that’s the thrill part- they couldn’t defeat the whitespikes in future so they discover and kill all of them here using that special serum his daughter made!
And Chriss Pratt’s little chickpea is now the commander of the resistance movement. Also, there is this scene where she tells him ‘How he dies?’ Umm…Wait a minute ‘Where are the fucking time travel rules lady?
I know it’s easy to criticise and a lot of effort would have been made in the production of this movie, but I seriously think Hollywood is running out of ideas now. Same movies, same concept just different actors!
I do not recommend watching The Tomorrow War, it’s long, dull and monotonous! Still, if you want to it is available on Amazon Prime!
On this note, I would like to pitch in an idea that I got while watching this movie.
Like in every alien invasion movie, we see some alien species invade the USA and are more powerful and technological advance than us, right? But, what if we, the humans are the only species with the most superior technology in this known universe? I would love to watch a movie where humans invade other planets in search of alternative earth-like conditions.
What do you think about this?
