Judgemental Hai Kya is a 2019 Bollywood Black-Comedy movie. It is directed by Prakash Kovelamudi. The genre of this movie is entirely different from the usual Bollywood movies. The runtime of the film is good, i.e., 116 minutes. Judgemental Hai Kya was made on an estimated budget of Rs 29-50 crores. The total box office collection as given on Wikipedia is Rs 44.92 crore. So, it is unclear that it was a flop or a hit.
Bobby is a strange independent woman living in Mumbai all alone. Bobby has a past due to which she is suffering from a psychological disease called Acute Psychosis. Due to this, she hallucinates a lot. When her uncle sents a couple as tenants(Keshav & Reema) in her house, she becomes obsessed with them and frequently spies them. When Reema dies in a Fire in the kitchen, Bobby blames Keshav for her death. The rest of the story maintains the suspense about Reema’s death and the story behind it!
The lead character of this movie is Bobby, played by Kangana Ranaut. Bobby has the majority of screen-time along with Keshav, played by Rajkumar Rao. Other notable roles in the film are Shridhar, played by Jimmy Shergill, Reema, played by Amyra Dastur & Megh, played by Amrita Puri.
The direction was average, nothing great. But what I loved was the screenplay! Kanika Dhillon did a great job in this area. The script was new; you can see very few black-comedy movies in Bollywood. Watching this one would feel like a unique experience for Bollywood lovers.
I feel like this movie has some sort of uniqueness to it because of its genre. The acting was great, especially by Kangana Ranaut. She is such a talented actor! It’s like she lives the character, not just act. And what can I say about Rajkumar Rao? He is such a versatile actor. He nailed his part too.
The comic punches of Jimmy Shergill & Kangana Ranaut are unmatchable. They couldn’t have done better than this. Other sub artists like Amyra & Amrita did a decent job too.
The best thing about this movie was, ‘How the movie-makers maintained that suspense till the very end?’ I was too confused, and although there were only a few possibilities, I couldn’t really decide!
Judgemental Hai Kya is a fresh movie from the usual routine of Bollywood. It is a perfect one-time watch, and Kangana’s performance will surely leave you in awe! I would rate this movie 6.5 out of 10 & definitely recommend watching this movie. It is streaming on the Zee5 app, by the way.
