Million Dollar Baby Review

PLOT:-

The story is about Margaret Fitzerald ”Maggie”(Hilary Swank), a waitress who has a passion for boxing and despite her old age wants to become a boxer. She decides to go to Hit Pit, a run-down gym operated by Frankie Dunn(Clint Eastwood), a former grumpy boxing trainer. She asks him to train her, but Frankie refuses. But, she is determined to learn boxing, and despite Frankie’s refusal, she teaches herself at the same gym. Later on, she gets help from Eddie Dupris(Morgan Freeman), an employee of Frankie, and also the narrator of the story. The rest of the story is about Maggie’s success as a female boxer and the bond between Maggi and Frankie.

REVIEW:-

This is undoubtedly one of the best sports movies. If you think it is similar to Rambo, where a boxer learns boxing and the rest of the film is about his success then you are just partially right. It does show Maggi’s success as a female boxer, but also so much more. It shows the bond between Maggi and Frankie that develops while they are training. This movie has so many emotions attached to it, that it can be only felt while seeing it. Clint Eastwood has kept it simple yet powerful.

I also like some particular lesson this movie teaches us. ‘People change their behavior with you as per your status’. This is beautifully showed in the film. Also, what I liked the most about this movie were its simple script and mind-blowing direction. This was supplemented by Hilary Swank’s outstanding performance. This could be the movie, she will be remembered for, at least for me.

RATING:-

I would rate this movie a 10 out of 10. This is my favorite sports movie till now, and I think it will be for a very long time. It is available on Netflix, so I will whole-heartedly recommend this movie to everyone. I have a few more reasons for you to watch this movie- Won 4 Oscars(2005) and also 2 Golden Globe Awards(2005). This just shows how good this movie really is.

CONCLUSION:-

Mo Chuisle(nickname of Maggi, given by Frankie) can make you cry with her acting in this outstanding movie. There is a reason behind this particular name which I will not state here as it should be seen with the movie only. Consider it a spoiler, if anyone tries to tell you. This movie will take you on a ride of emotions that you will not be able to forget any time soon.
