Umm… Okay.
So, I was in 1st grade.
And if I remember correctly, it was the first day of school.
(Though honestly, it’s a bit blurry now – it has been over 20 years.)
Let’s call her D.
I was seated next to her, and I was crying. Not just a few tears – crying profusely. I didn’t want to be in school at all. I just wanted to go home.
My classmates tried to console me. Even the teachers took turns telling me not to cry. But I was stubborn. I kept bawling.
Then she said something.
I don’t remember the exact words – just that she said something. And somehow… I stopped crying.
Looking back, I think I was just in awe of her. Her cuteness, her calm voice, the way she spoke…
Funny thing is, I also remember she was sitting in front of me during the entrance exam. Even then, she stood out somehow.
But sadly, in 2nd grade, our sections changed. I ended up in Class A, and she was in B.
Life moved on.
Years later, during college, I was casually scrolling through Facebook when I found her. I sent her a friend request. She accepted.
For a moment, I thought about telling her this little story – how she calmed me down all those years ago.
But I never found the courage.
And now, after seeing this Daily Prompt, I felt a wave of nostalgia. So I opened my old Facebook… or tried to.
Only to remember that I deleted that account back in 2018 🙁
Ah well.
Childhood stories – they’re so innocent, right?
