For the past 2-3 days, I am doing meditation. One thing that I have noticed is that I am not able to focus and introspect for even 10 seconds!
And this is sad to be honest.
Every time I close my eyes I have this flood of thoughts ready to analyze in my mind.
And my mind pushes every thought one after another without a millisecond gap between them.
Sometimes they even overlap causing conflict and argument.
I was thinking about the progress I am making on LinkedIn, commenting, networking and adding new connections.
Suddenly, in between this thought (or aspiration); I want to become a YouTuber and create videos, came barging in.
Now, I was measuring the pros and cons of building a network on LinkedIn vs creating short videos for my YouTube shorts channel; all while doing meditations!!!!
I took a breath and told myself to stop and I did … for 10 seconds.
Then another thought came in and the process repeated.
I was not able to sit for 5 minutes quietly without thinking about multiple things.
I remember, when I was in school we had this meditation tape. It talked about how you should try to focus an imaginary flame between your eyes.
Been trying that since childhood, never have I been able to see that imaginary flame.
This tells a lot about me (and us, I suppose).
We are a generation with an attention span of mere 8 seconds. This is serious because we are not living in the present. We are always thinking about the past and future.
This year, I have been able to spend a lot of time with myself. It has been at the cost of not earning enough money. Yet, I can say I am at more peace.
My thought are getting clear and I am able to feel the peace – when I watch sunsets every day, when I see the rain falling and smell the earthly scent when rain falls on dry soil and while writing all these thoughts.
Spend some time with yourself guys… doing nothing!
You will love it!
