The story is about 7 college friends who happen to meet each other after a very long time and in an alarming situation. Anni’s(Sushant Singh Rajput) son tries to commit suicide when he is not able to get clear JEE MAINS exam. He considers himself a loser. He is severely injured after that Jump and has a brain haemorrhage. The doctors are sceptical about his condition and have already warned his parents about his deteriorating health. To motivate his son to live and tell him that being a loser is fine, his father tells him a story of his college life.
I was very keen to watch this movie after reading a few reviews. So, this review is for someone who has not watched this movie until now. By the way, it is now available on Hotstar VIP. So, what I liked about the film was an intriguing plot. It tells 7 college students’ life, and it’s more about hostel life than college life. I have never been to a hostel and seeing this movie, I wished if I could get a chance to enjoy hostel life.
About the acting, the acting was decent enough. But what I feel is the plot was so good that even if someone did wrong, it would not be noticed. The thing is there were too many emotions attached to this film. The last film that I loved that had a similar story was Sadda Adda. The characters were very realistic like that bevda & acid, there’s always someone in a group of friends who drinks a lot and abuses a lot. These realistic characters made the movie even better.
There was enough comedy in the movie to make the audience love the film. The punch lines were excellent in some scenes. About Drama, the amount of Drama was enough. There was almost a perfect balance of comedy and Drama. Also, I liked how the roles were equally assigned to every character. I think everyone got more or less equal screen-time.
But, what I liked above all this, this movie had a social message. And I love movies which give us something more than entertainment. The social message is about, ‘Why losing is as important as Winning?’ & also about enjoying the journey, not just the destination.
‘Chhichhore‘ is one of the few Bollywood movies that can remind you of your hostel days. There are not too many movies on college or hostel life, which makes this movie more special. After watching this movie, I just kept on wishing to get a chance to stay in a hostel? I would rate this movie an 8 out of 10 and recommend anyone who has stayed in a hostel or would like to stay in a hostel.
