Angel Has Fallen is a 2019 Hollywood film directed by Ric Roman Waugh. The genre of the movie is Action-thriller. This is the third instalment in this series. The first two are:-
- Olympus Has Fallen
- London Has Fallen
‘Angel Has Fallen’ was released on August 23, 2019. The total runtime of the movie is 121 minutes. It was a commercial success earning $133.4 million against its budget of $40 million.
- Gerard Butler as Agent Mike Banning. Mike is the lead actor in all instalments of the movie. He has the longest screen-time in this part too.
- Morgan Freeman as President Allan Trumbull. His mere presence makes the film a must-watch. However, he has very few dialogues & screen-time in this one.
- Danny Huston as Wade Jennings. He is the villain of this movie.
These 3 are the main cast of the movie. Other cast members include Michael Landes, Tim Blake Nelson, Nick Nolte & others.
So, the movie seems pretty impressive from the trailer. I know! If you have seen the previous two parts, you already know the plot of the film. There is no change in the concept. President of the United States is in danger, and Agent Mike comes for the rescue again. The movie starts with an attempted assassination of the president, but Agent Banning saves him. But, his entire team gets killed in action. The FBI finds a few evidence to prove Agent Banning as the mastermind behind this attempted assassination on the investigation. Is he guilty or Is he being framed?
Ric Roman Waugh did a decent job overall for this movie. The movie is 2 hours long, but it was watchable. Thanks to the action sequels and BGM. Kudos to Cinematographer Jules O’Loughlin, the action scenes looked amazing and somehow kept me hooked till the end.
Action Scenes: The best part of this complete series is its action scenes. The majority of the movie is filled with gunfights, bomb explosions, and what not!
If you keep aside the action scenes, ‘Angel Has Fallen‘ has nothing new to offer. It has the same predictable plot. I knew from the start Mike will save the president. The genre of the movie says Thriller, but there is almost no thrill. Just endless action.
The major turnoff was the story. This movie had great potential, but somehow the writers messed it up. I remember when I watched ‘Olympus Has Fallen’, I was so damn thrilled. But, then I watched ‘London Has Fallen’, and it had the same story and now this. One cannot just watch the same movie plot over and over again.
It is one of those movies you watch and forget that you have watched it. It’s not time-waste entirely, but it lacks every other movie element except action—mediocre acting and an average movie overall.
In conclusion, the third instalment in this series is a one-time watch. Honestly, I watched it because I have seen the previous two parts and wanted to find out, what’s in this one? I would rate ‘Angel Has Fallen’ a 5 out of 10 and would not wholeheartedly recommend this one. If you are new to this series, watch ‘Olympus Has Fallen‘ instead of this one. Then afterwards you can decide for yourself if you want to watch the other two parts or not.
