Okay, so here’s the thing…
I was super excited to watch The Old Guard 2.
I mean, I absolutely loved the first one. It had everything – action, emotion, a solid story.
So I planned it all out. Got the popcorn ready, adjusted the lighting, and settled in for what I thought would be another great ride.
But… yeah, it didn’t go as expected.
The whole movie felt like it was just laying the groundwork for a third part.
And honestly, that’s disappointing. I get it – franchises want to build anticipation, keep the audience hooked.
But come on, the second part should have its own story, right?
I wasn’t watching the sequel just to be told, “Hey, wait for the next one.” That’s not why I pressed play.
There should be a plot. A beginning, middle, and end.
Something that stands on its own, even if it’s part of a bigger arc. Otherwise, it just feels like filler.
And the worst part? The first movie came out almost five years ago.
So now what – wait another five years for the third one?
That’s when it hit me.
Maybe the whole concept of three-part movies is kinda fading.
Like, maybe two parts are enough now. One to kick things off, and one to wrap it up.
If not that, then at least reduce the gap between releases. Three seasons in five years? That’s fine.
But one movie every five years? That’s just too long.
Anyway, if I had to rate The Old Guard 2, I’d give it a 5.5 out of 10.
Absolutely, not what I signed up for 🙁
p.s. Movies have always been close to me. I try to write about most of what I watch, and if something really stands out, you’ll definitely get notified in your box (if you subscribe)
