Why I Spent 3 Hours Designing My Blog (Again)

So, I spent 3 hours today—again—just designing this blog.

And honestly, it’s not the first time I’ve done this.

Let me tell you the full story.

A few days ago, I stumbled upon this old blog of mine.

It brought back so many memories.

I’ve been blogging on and off since 2019, starting on Blogspot. Since then, I’ve moved my site around quite a bit—from Blogspot to WordPress, then back to Blogspot, and again to WordPress.

I’ve changed domains multiple times too.

The first one was re-view.in, where I used to write movie and TV series reviews.

Around 2020 or 2021, I had this idea: why not have a single domain where I could consolidate all my movie reviews?

So, I bought therojoblog.in and even committed to it for 10 years (I have this domain for 10 years, ending in 2031)

At the time, I really thought that was going to be my final decision.

Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.

By 2023, I decided to delete all the movie reviews from therojoblog.in. I felt it wasn’t serving the purpose anymore.

I wanted to turn that website into a digital marketing blog—a professional portfolio that I could showcase during interviews.

For the next two years, I stayed consistent with that. I added articles, and anything that aligned with my work in digital marketing.

But then in the beginning of this year, I started thinking again.

“Therojoblog” doesn’t sound very professional, does it?

If I’m going to have a serious portfolio, the name should reflect that. It should be permanent.

And what’s the one thing that’ll always stay with me?

My name.

That led me to buy rohitjoshi.in, and now I’m using that as my main portfolio site.

But what about all the old movie reviews I had written?

I had spent a lot of time and effort creating them. I didn’t want to just delete them forever.

So I decided to start this blog back in 2023, when I was removing the reviews from therojoblog and shifting it entirely towards digital marketing content.

This blog was meant to be a place where those old reviews could live on.

Then, as life went on, I kind of forgot about this blog.

I recently found it by chance while going through some old emails. Out of curiosity, I started reading my past reviews—and nostalgia hit me hard.

That’s when I thought, “I’m at home anyway. I still watch movies, series, and all that stuff… why not write about it again?”

Plus, I’ve been trying to build a regular writing habit—this felt like the perfect opportunity.

I even answered a few ‘daily prompts’ on the blog, and to my surprise, people liked them. That really motivated me.

So today, I decided to take this seriously.

And once again, I spent around 3 hours designing the blog—tweaking the layout, fixing the theme, adjusting fonts—basically making it feel like me.

I thought, “If I’m going to do this, might as well do it properly.”

I don’t know why I have this habit of chasing perfection.

Even if something tiny feels off, I can’t stop myself from fixing it.

That’s exactly what happened today. But finally, it’s done.

The blog looks the way I want it to (for now), and this is the third post I’m publishing here today.

Going forward, I’ve decided to use this blog more like a personal journal.

I’ll write about life, travel, random thoughts, anything interesting I watch or learn, and even the moments of anger or frustration I go through.

Meanwhile, anything related to my career or professional growth—like digital marketing insights, work updates, or portfolio content—will go on rohitjoshi.in.

Of course, deep down, I know this isn’t the final setup. I’ll probably make more changes again. That’s just how I am.

But right now, I just want to focus more on writing and less on designing.

I hope this simple setup works—at least for a while.
