The Wolf of Wall Street (TWWL) is a 2013 American biographical black-comedy-crime movie directed by Martin Scorsese & it was written by Terence Winter. It is based on the book of the same name by Jordan Belfort. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort followed by Jonah hill as his friend (Donnie Azoff) and Margot Robbie as his wife (Naomi Lapaglia). The Wolf of Wall Street was made on a massive budget of $100 million, but it collected a staggering amount of $392 million worldwide, almost earning 4 times its budget. Though the runtime of this movie is 180 minutes, there’s not a single minute, it loses its mojo.
Not revealing much, the movie follows Jordon Belfort’s journey throughout and other things happening in between. Jordon Belfort starts off as a wall street stockbroker but soon indulges in careless sex and drugs. He passes on his idea that a stockbroker’s only goal is to make money for himself.
Jordan starts his own firm by collaborating with his neighborhood friend Donnie and a bunch of his high school buddies. Jordan doesn’t stop here, he goes way beyond national boundaries – illegal international transfer of funds, scams, fraud & much more but one mistake takes its all down. The involvement of the FBI adds another exquisite flavor to the movie.
This is not just the best movie on Capital Market scams but also one of the best movies ever made. Martin Scorsese shows how brilliant he is when it comes to movie-direction. Sometimes I wonder how he can possibly be so right every single time in choosing his scripts. The movie beautifully captures both the personal and professional life of Jordan Belfort. And also the MONEY, POWER, WOMEN, and DRUGS attached it to.
Lionardo DiCaprio once again hits the ball out of the court, he was not just acting, he lived the character. Jonah Hill was like the cherry on the cake, and this can be said without a doubt because both were nominated for an Academy Award for their respective roles.
10 on 10 – what else you expect from me? Movies like this one are scarce. When I watched it for the first time, I felt like I was in a roller coaster ride. I remember talking about this movie with my friends. The comedy, the acting, and the plot just makes it one of the best rewatchable film. I, personally have watched this movie over 5 times now. I am so in love with ‘Wolfie‘. If you need more reason to watch it, let me tell you this movie has won a total of 5 Academy Awards and also comes in the top ten lists of many famous critics.
